Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy Volume 1 reviewed on Castalia House Website

A new review of Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy Volume 1 on the Castalia House website.

"... I really like the format of this book. The 5.25 x 8 is an almost ideal size for reading. Cover art by Jim Pitts who colorized an old illustration of Karl Edward Wagner’s Kane. Pitts also provides the frontispiece and dedication art. The art fits well, is strategically used, and kept in balance with the prose.

There is a second volume out in June and Volume 3 published two weeks ago. The publishing schedule appears to be every 6 months. This is stuff the Big 5 ought to be doing."

Volume 3 of Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy nearing completion

With only three days to go before the closure of submissions for Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy we can now say that in our opinion it is going to be a cracker.

One tale that will definitely be looked forward to is a brand-new Elak, King of Atlantis story by veteran fantasy writer Adrian Cole.

Last year saw publication of his first series of Elak tales by Pulp Hero Press, Elak: King of Atlantis to great critical acclaim. Included in Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy Volume 3 will be a novella-length Elak story: Sailing on the Thieves' Tide.

Full details of all of the contents will be announced next week and Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy Volume 3 will be available as a paperback and ebook by mid-November.

Christmas in the Workhouse & Other Gruesome Tales - a new video on an ideal gift for Christmas

Christmas in the Workhouse & Other Gruesome Tales by Craig Herbertson, illustrated by Chrissie Demant.

Available in hardcover, paperback and kindle.

This is the second collection of stories written by Craig Herbertson to be published by Parallel Universe Publications. Two of his stories received honourable mentions in Ellen Datlow's renowned lists - The Best Horror of the Year. When not writing Craig is playing folk music, mostly Scottish, or watching football. Some of the stories in this collection show the influence of some of his favourite writers, including Philip K. Dick and J. G. Ballard.

An ideal present for Christmas for anyone who loves well-written, dark, sardonically macabre stories, complete with several spot illustrations by Chrissie Demant and one illustration by Craig himself.  Published in hardcover with an illustrated dustjacket, this is one of the best collections we have ever published.
